UQ IML High School Enrichment

Enrich your language knowledge by meeting like-minded students

The Institute of Modern Languages offers Summer and Winter language programs for Year 9 -12 high school students.

In Summer 2021, IML offered programs for Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

Program and language offerings will be confirmed when enrolments open for Winter 2021.

IML high school language enrichment programs are for students who are studying Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish in Years 9 and 10 or Years 11 and 12 in 2021.

The goal of these programs is to increase students’ proficiency and fluency by using the language for communicative purposes. The focus will be on enjoyment in an assessment-free environment.

The Year 11 and 12 program is designed for language students in their Senior phase of learning who are completing:

  • Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or
  • International Baccalaureate program (IB).

Why complete the UQ IML 2021 High School Enrichment Program:

Learn from experienced teachers with native proficiency

Enhance your fluency in an immersive environment

Meet like-minded language learners

I learned German in high school and really wanted to keep it going at university. Because I studied a double degree, however, I couldn’t incorporate language into my studies. IML gave me the flexibility to study German at a university outside my degree, and has already helped me in starting my career both here in Australia and globally.
