These two short courses are for students with previous knowledge of Japanese to strenghten their skills in recognising and reading Kanji characters. By the end of each Kanji course, students will be able to confidently read the studied Kanji.
Kanji Level 1
In this course you will learn to read and write 31 kanji that are included in Level 1 Japanese courses at the IML. The origins of the kanji will be explained, and the kanji will be presented in a meaningful context, making them easier to recall.
This course is for learners with no knowledge, or minimal knowledge, of kanji. The course serves as preparation for a Level 1 course, or as a follow up for those who want to consolidate and enhance their study of kanji.
No previous knowledge required, but the ability to read hiragana and katakana will be useful.
Kanji Level 2
In this course you will learn to read and write 67 kanji that are included in Level 2 Japanese courses at the IML. The origins of the kanji will be explained, and the kanji will be presented in a meaningful context, making them easier to recall.
This course is for learners who can read hiragana and katakana, and who are familiar with the IML Level 1 Japanese kanji. The course serves as preparation for a Level 2 course, or as a follow up for those who want to consolidate and enhance their study of kanji.
Previous knowledge required: the ability to read hiragana and katakana, and knowledge of the IML Level 1 Japanese kanji.
